Red Hook Initiative

Brooklyn

RHI believes that social change to overcome systemic inequities begins with empowered youth. In partnership with community adults, we nurture young people in Red Hook to be inspired, resilient and healthy, and to envision themselves as co-creators of their lives, community and society. We envision a Red Hook where all young people can pursue their dreams and grow into independent adults who contribute to their families and community.

Elevating Older Adults

We work to assure the availability of quality services that support New York's growing older adult population. These services, provided to over 60,000 Older Adults each year by settlement houses, include: senior centers, case management, home delivered meals, adult day programs, mental health services, home care, and services in Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs).

UNH accomplishes this through advocacy and policy analysis as well as by providing resources to our member agencies for program innovation and enhancement.
