Two of every five New Yorkers, and nearly 50% of households with children, can't buy fresh, affordable food close to home. (New York Community Experience Partnership)
United Community Centers
Brooklyn
United Community Centers (UCC) was founded by residents of local housing projects to organize East New York neighbors to struggle for a better community and higher quality of life. The settlement offers service programs and advocacy campaigns.
Harbor Camp
UNH has been partnering with the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance (MWA) for Harbor Camp since 2008. Harbor Camp provides a meaningful water-based summer camp experience to hundreds of children in the New York – New Jersey metropolitan area. Currently, six UNH members participate including: CAMBA, Chinese-American Planning Council, Goddard Riverside Community Center, Hudson Guild, Union Settlement Association, and University Settlement Society.
Harbor Camp’s goal is to provide ecological, environmental, maritime, and/or historical education alongside fun and entertainment, and to cultivate stewardship in its participants. It encourages interest in protecting and preserving natural resources and instills a sense of the history of the New York region.
For more information about Harbor Camp, contact Snehal Majithia.
